📅 Semester 1 Overview

• Duration: Terms 1 & 2 (Semester 1)

• Venue: Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre

• Who can play: Students in Years 3–8

• Team Training: The Wainui School pool will be available for team training sessions during Term 1

🕓 Game Days & Match Details (Sunday Evenings @ Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre)

Year 3 & 4 Junior Water Polo / Flippa Ball:

• Played in the shallow end using adapted rules; 2 x 10-minute halves (running clock).

• 6 field players + 1 goalie in the pool (substitutions at any time).

• Referees: 1 in the pool supporting players and 1 officiating from the side.

Year 5 & 6 Junior Water Polo / Flippa Ball:

• Faster-paced shallow-end game developing swimming, confidence, and ball skills; 2 x 10-minute halves (running clock).

• 6 field players + 1 goalie in the pool (substitutions at any time).

• Referees: 2 officiating from the side.

Year 7 & 8 Water Polo:

• Played in the deep end using standard Water Polo rules; 2 x 10-minute halves (running clock).

• Max 7 players in the pool at once (6 field + 1 goalie).

• Substitutions allowed during stoppages (fouls, restarts, ball out, etc.).

 

🧢 Team Information

• Team Size: 9 players per team (6 field players + 1 goalie + 2 subs).

• Coaches & Managers: Each team must have a dedicated Coach and Manager. We are unable to register a team without a coach, so please indicate on the registration form if you are able to assist.

• Communication: Further team information will be sent home once registrations close.

💲 Fees & Payment

• Estimated player fee: Approx. $130 per player for the semester (based on 2026 fees with 9 players per team). Note: If a team has only 8 players, the fee will increase to approx. $145 per player.

👕 Uniform & Safety Requirements

• Required Gear: Appropriate swimwear. Swim caps are provided by HBC Waterpolo
